Artist's Statement

Working with the clay, I seek the connection between the material and myself. I create what I believe is a new form, taking away the traditional idea of what ceramics is. Other than just pots and plates, I explore the way to integrate them together using strings to show the idea of support, unity, and a whole new, different form. My idea is to make these ceramic pieces more sculptural-like.

Working with the clay, I'm seeking the connection between the material and myself. I'm creating what I believe are new forms by building my way up, just like buildings are made. Taking away the traditional idea of what ceramics are, other than just pots and plates, I'm also exploring the way to integrate them together using strings in order to give the idea of support and unity a whole new, different form. By simplifying the perfect equilibrium,. I'm tending to explore how everything has to be perfect and precise in order to work in harmony with all things around it and how even in the simplest yet complicated forms, the natural energies affect everything. It's very simple; I'm depicting the true forms of things.
